A Quiet Day At The Beach

I got inspired by some Sports Illustrated ‘reference photos’ I was looking at, when I started wondering, “Wait, what’s happening just OUTSIDE of the camera frame?”, and then things just rolled from there!

I’ve been wanting to start putting more HUMOR into my pin-ups, and I’ve been reading a lot of the great Amanda Conner’s work (‘Powergirl’, ‘Supergirl’, etc.), and she always has multiple jokes going on in her big panels- one in the background, one in the middle, one in the foreground- so that’s what I was going for here. It’s harder than you think!

Anyway, let me know if you’d buy a 14” by 16” print of this at a farmer’s market or comic-con, I’m trying to figure out what to do with works like these, besides making myself giggle.
